Service Care Solutions and Corporate Social Responsibility

Case Studies
I have recently been lucky enough to become part of a small team of colleagues working together planning and delivering Service Care Solutions Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

CSR is the idea that businesses should balance profit-making activities with activities that benefit society; it focuses on developing a business which has a positive relationship with the environment in which we operate.

Social Responsibility has become a large focus and integral part of Service Care Solutions (SCS) business model recently, in particular the emphasis on environmental well-being and community or charitable involvement.

Service Care Solutions CSR team, in conjunction with discussions from the wider workplace, have made progress on identifying our selected charitable partners which now consists of 5 local charities who have direct links with the various divisions at Service Care Solutions:

1. The Space Centre - The centre has the largest multi-sensory environment in the United Kingdom for adults and children with special needs.

2. St Catherine’s Hospice - St Catherine’s Hospice is a local charity which is here to help people in our community affected by serious illness enjoy quality of life and have dignity in death.

3. Derian House - Situated in the heart of Lancashire, Derian House provides palliative, specialist respite and end of life care for children and young adults throughout the North West region.

4. The Foxton Centre - The Foxton Centre, Preston has been working with rough sleepers, street sex workers, young people, people with alcohol abuse issues and other people in the community who need our support for over 40 years.

5. Calvert Trust - The Calvert Trust is the inspiration of John Fryer-Spedding, whose vision was to enable people with disabilities to benefit from outdoor activities in the countryside.

Of course, the above charities are not an exclusive list, SCS as a whole are keen to support any nationwide charitable events or alternative charitable requests that are received alongside our nominated charities.

In the last 3 months at Service Care Solutions employees alone have raised £1264.76 towards charity from their own pockets from a combination of a bake sale, charity football match, raffles and a recent Christmas Jumper day.

This coupled with the donation matches from SCS including; Charitable Donation as an alternative to Christmas Cards, Derian House ‘Christmas Elves’ Christmas decorations and a couple of individual donations to alternate charities, means that over the past couple of months we as a company have raised £2588.16 all towards great causes.

Moving forward into 2017, the CSR team have big plans with regards to charity work and setting targets to work towards in the New Year. We have some exciting ideas which we will be finalised shortly to expand upon the great work we already do in the local community.
