Job description: Activities Coordinator - Flitwick (Bedford)
A large housing association are recruiting for an Activities Coordinator to join their team in Flitwick to develop and oversee an active living programme for each resident, which supports mobility, social contact, independence and fun so every resident can thrive and live to their full potential.

The Role
The focus of the role is to develop and oversee an active living programme for each resident, which supports mobility, social contact, independence and fun so every resident can thrive and live to their full potential.
This will include the following additional tasks and responsibilities:
*Collaborate with nursing and other senior staff to make an assessment of the strengths and capabilities of residents in regard to activities of daily living.
*Ensure the home has appropriate and adequate stock of equipment including all arts and crafts materials, a variety of books, games, CD's, Sensory equipment and musical instruments and that they are accessible to all residents. Ensure that a register is kept up-to-date of the equipment/stocks.
*Ensure that any risk assessments have been carried out prior to any new planned activity or event.
*Maintain, and up-date daily, appropriate written records of resident's assessments, resident's participation and activity evaluations
*Take a dynamic and confident lead in the home to promote the benefits of activities by contributing ideas to the Senior Team to ensure that a varied and imaginative weekly plan is available that meets the needs and capabilities of all the resident's. The plan must be distributed to each resident and displayed in a public area in the home/
*Work with and take guidance from the Client Relations Manager to how to improve the marking of the home by capitalising on any planned events or activities.
*Ensure that appropriate requests are made for collateral or marketing materials that will best promote any themed event.
*Work with the General Manager, the Client Relations Manager, Senior and Administration team, to ensure that the Home's website provides a true reflection of the "lived' experience in the home and is updated at least twice a month with authorized images and short descriptions of planned or held events.
*Devise simple and safe activities which encourage movement and maintain joint flexibility and functional use of hands and fingers.
*Organise a creative and dynamic range of 'themed events' that recognise and celebrate annual, national, local and home events, dates or celebrations.
*Work with the senior team to ensure that the residents have full access to the home's minibus and that it is used regularly for activities away from the home.

The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you will require the following skills and experience:
*Working with people with complex conditions and challenging behaviour
*Working effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment
*A flexible approach to own working time
*Commitment to actively participate in mandatory training
*The Mental Health Act 1983 as amended 2007, preferably with Dementia experience
*The Health and Social Care Act 2008 and requirements
*Knowledge and empathy of the service user group
*Must be a driver (Full, clean driver's license - as have to drive minibus)
*Think outside the box and build relationships (with activities)
*Plan activities inside and outside the home for residents
*Use the care plans to make individual plans for residents

The Contract
This is a permanent role, paying £9 per hour, working 9-5 Monday to Friday. This will include alternate weekends, one-on, one-off.
