Job description: A Local Authority based in Central London is looking for a Principal Architect to join their team.
This is a full time, temporary position and the ideal candidate must be a registered Architect and will be able to take projects from inception to completion, will have excellent detailing skills, and will preferably have recent experience of new build housing projects.

The purpose of the role is to be responsible for designing many of the council's recent new build housing and regeneration projects. Whilst the primary focus is housing (the council has an ambitious new build housing programme), they also work on schools, libraries and offices.

The responsibilities for this role are:
To provide full architectural services in relation to design and construction projects.
To undertake site appraisals, investigations and feasibility studies to assess the suitability of sites for development.
To develop design proposals, in conjunction with other members of the design team, and in liaison with the client.
To obtain planning permission, approvals under the building acts or regulations, listed building approval, and any other approvals required to progress architectural projects.

Experience & Qualifications:
Registered Architect with demonstrable relevant experience in building design and project management.
Extensive demonstrable experience of high quality building design, preferably in relation to public sector buildings and/or new build housing, from inception to completion.
Extensive demonstrable experience of design team leadership and project management of construction projects.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering between £25-£28 p/hour Umbrella Ltd (approx. £620 - £685 p/week NET after deductions) dependant on experience and qualifications.
