Job description: My client based in Caerphilly is looking for 2 Assistant Engineer's to join their team. These are both full time, temporary positions and the successful candidates will hold a full UK driving licence and will hold a relevant professional qualifications. See below for descriptions of both roles that are available:

The main Purpose of this role is to Assist in the delivery of works and services within the Engineering Projects Group of the Engineering Division.

Role 1
Assistant Engineer Structures:

This post assists in the provision of professional engineering consultancy services within the Engineering Projects Group. The post will assist with structural inspections, the design and assessment on structures and other civil engineering projects, the delivery of civil and structural engineering projects and highways structures management. The post holder will be involved in a range of activities relating including and design, contract preparation and procurement activities.


Experience in the use of computer aided design software.

Topographical surveying techniques and the application of computer related software programmes.

Experience of current health, safety and welfare codes and legislation.

Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally with a variety of stakeholders.

Forms of inspections for walls, bridges and culverts.

CDM and design risk management.

Familiarity in the use of word processing, spreadsheets, presentation and project management software.

Role 2
Assistant Engineer EPG:

Assist in the delivery of works and services within the Engineering Projects Group of the Engineering Division.
Assist, undertake and contribute in all elements concerned with the development of project designs, production of drawings, preparation of contracts, setting out of works and contract supervision.

The successful candidate(s) will:

*Be able to deal with the public in a polite, impartial and helpful manner.
*Be able to work effectively and reliably as part of a team.
*Have good communication skills with a range of people inside and outside the organisation.
*Have good IT skills including word processing, spreadsheets preferably Microsoft Office, email, use of the intranet and internet.
*Be able to plan tasks and meet deadlines/targets.
*Be able to maintain accurate records.
*Able to manage effectively a rapidly changing workload.
*Be able to be flexible in responding to a broad range of duties.
