Job description: Audit Manager, Coalville

Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for an audit manager in Coalville. As an Audit Manager in Coalville, you must be a CCAB Qualified Accountant, CMIIA, or equivalent. It is also essential that you have experience and an understanding of the role and requirements of the Chief Audit Executive and the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards, with at least 5 years' experience of public sector internal audits.

With this being a senior position, you will require demonstrable experience of managing financial resources and appreciation of aspects relating to value for money, probity, stewardship and accountability, as well as knowledge and understanding of the role of Local Government and the environment within which it operates.

To be successful in this role you will require the ability to operate within a political environment, working with elected members in a public arena, for example Committee meetings, and you must have the ability to write clear and concise reports for a variety of audiences.
Your key responsibilities in this position will be:

-To act as the Chief Audit Executive and provide an efficient and effective internal audit service that conforms to the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards.
-To protect the assets and interest of the Authorities by continuous examination of activities to detect fraud, misappropriation, irregular expenditure and losses due to waste, extravagance and maladministration.
-To provide assurance to senior management and the Audit and Governance Committee that the framework of governance, risk management and internal control is adequate and is operating effectively, making recommendations for improvement where necessary.
-To prepare a risk based annual audit plan and manage the team's performance and delivery against this plan.
-To prepare and manage the audit assignments for the Internal Auditors.
-To provide professional advice and guidance to staff at all levels, councillors, contractors and any other stakeholders on audit, control, risk and fraud matters, and to participate and represent the internal audit view at any relevant meetings.
-To promote, develop and maintain good relations and co-operation between the team and all auditees, officers, contractors and councillors, thus gaining and maintaining client confidence, respect and a high profile for the team.

This is an initial 3-month contract, which may run to 12-months to cover a period of maternity leave. The working pattern is flexible and will be discussed at the interview stage, though the general hours are 9.00-17.30.
