Job description: My Client, a provider of storage technologies for the Public Sector, is currently looking for an Automation & Monitoring Engineer on a permanent basis.

My client provides a cloud solution for Public Sector organisations. They are able to provide a leading cloud solution that delivers outstanding value and capability. This enables Public Sector organisations to deliver better services through technology.

Candidates who apply for this role must have lived in the UK for a minimum of 5 years as Security Clearance is required for this role. Candidates who have not lived in the UK for the minimum 5 years will unfortunately not be considered for this role.

Due to the number of exciting and cutting edge technologies that my client work with, great automation and monitoring delivers value and accuracy that is needed for their teams and the company as a whole.

The successful candidate will work in the team responsible for the management platform, tools and systems to automate, manage and monitor infrastructure and services.

Candidates should have an operational mindset and be experienced Linux Administrators/System Administrators who enjoy working in a production environment where you have learnt to automate.

Candidates may come from a 2nd line background and have moved into a development career, or be in an Automation or monitoring role where you want to take a more active part in a fast paced agile environment.

Key Responsibilities:

* Continual improvement of the capability and accuracy of individual/stack monitors.
* Implementation of Infrastructure monitoring and management tools.
* Creation of management-information/reporting/dashboards.
* Product/solution evaluation and selection for the monitoring and management platform, tools and services.
* Share and develop subject matter expert understanding of the systems, options and methods to improve the value of the tools across the organisation.
* Customer and business-aligned automation and integration of my clients platforms.

Skills/Experience:

* Strong understanding of core infra technologies, e.g. Servers (especially), Linux, Networks & storage.
* Operational support of Windows and/or Linux operating systems and VMWare vsSphere virtualisation, ideally large scale.
* Demonstrable experience of at least one of the following scripting languages: VBS, Powershell, Perl, Python, Ruby.
* At home managing infrastructure at a console/API Level.
* Tenacious nature, not defeated by technical challenges.
* Exposure to monitoring/operational support environments, ideally large scale.
* Creation of dashboards/reports, ideally can demonstrate custom/aggregated examples.
