Job description: Benefit Assessment Officer, Warwick
A local authority based in Warwick are recruiting for a Benefit Assessment Officer to verify information, assess, and award Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction in accordance with Government Legislation, Case Law and Council Policy

The Role
The focus of this role is to verify information, assess, and award Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction in accordance with Government Legislation, Case Law and Council Policy - this will include the following responsibilities:
*Examine benefit claim forms; verify supporting documents and cross-check information provided to determine the evidence necessary for the assessment and award of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction.
*Correspond with, and interview customers to obtain the evidence necessary for the assessment and award of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction.
*Assess benefit by input on to the computer system and ensure that claim histories are kept up to date thereby ensuring that customers receive an accurate notification of assessment and that management information is available.
*Action information and notifications received from customers, landlords, the Rent Service, Executive Agencies of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), Business Units of the Council and other stakeholders so that Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction assessments are accurate and customers are notified accordingly.
*Liaise with landlords, the Rent Service, Executive Agencies of the DWP, Business Units of the Council and other stakeholders to ensure that Benefit records are accurate.

The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you will require the following skills and experience:
*Recent experience of using Civica and Civica DIP and Workflow.
*Experience of working in a Housing Benefits or Welfare Benefits environment.
*IRRV Technician qualification or NVQ in Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit.

The Contract
This is a full time role on an initial one month contract, but has a very strong chance of being extended.
