Job description: My client, a local authority based in Kent is looking for a Building Control Surveyor to join their team. This is a full time, temporary position and the successful candidate will have a relevant professional qualification and a full UK driving licence.

The main purpose of the role is to ensure buildings in the Borough are constructed in accordance with the Building Regulations through effect site inspection and plan examination along with assisting in fulfilling the statutory duty of enforcing the Building Regulations.

This position is to start as soon as possible and below are a list of some of the associated duties the successful candidate would be expected to undertake;

Through working within a team contribute to the full and effective implementation of Building Regulation and Building Act activities.
To partake in alternative methods of service delivery including home/remote working, partnering, partnerships, joint working and increased use of technology to communicate.
To assist in full recovery of Building Control expenditure through the timely issue of inspection fee requests and invoices, reducing expenditure wherever possible, the correct assessment of fees under the Building (Local Authority Charges) Regulations and the section own charging scheme.
To perform competent technical assessment of plans, specifications, construction work and low to medium complexity structural calculations in accordance with the Building Regulations, associated legislation and various technical guidance such as British Standards.
To carry out site inspection of building work to ensure mandatory standards of health & safety are achieved and to maintain concise and accurate records of all inspections and communication.
To consult as required with internal and external stakeholders such as Kent Fire Brigade and Environmental Health.
To maintain the level of service provision in accordance with the sections policy and service plans including local and national performance targets with particular attention to customer care.

The successful candidate will have an in depth knowledge of Construction and Building regulations and will be able to demonstrate competency in previous positions of a similar nature.
