Job description: Driven and ambitious Building Physics Engineer required for this successful main contractor based in Newcastle.
You will join a talented Building Services division and assist in the design and delivery of a wide variety of projects.

about the role...


*Your responsibilities can typically be expected to comprise...

*Undertake the sustainable design, analysis and consultancy for a wide variety of buildings and masterplans within the sustainability and building physics remit

*Investigating multiple solutions to challenges summarising the benefits and shortfalls of each

*Working as part of multidisciplinary team, attending meetings with architects etc.

*Be exposed to clients, other professionals and suppliers

*Attending both internal and external presentations, presenting where appropriate.

*Supporting on design competitions and bids

*Producing reports and presentations with excellent visual and grammatical quality

*Complying with all internal quality assurance procedures

*Ensuring your work is reviewed by a senior member of staff before it is issued

*Working to current legislation, British Standards and Codes of Practice

*Delivering excellent project work within agreed deadlines and to the appropriate level of detail

*Working within the agreed budget on tasks as set by the Job Leader, raising any concerns from an early stage.

*Reporting directly to Line Manager and Job Leaders, and escalating issues as appropriate.

*Keeping line manager and job leaders informed of progress on projects and any concerns








More about you...

As an experienced building physics engineer, it is expected that you can demonstrate...


*Experience using dynamic simulation software to analyse buildings and advise architects and building services engineers on how to achieve comfortable and energy efficient designs as well as to complete building regulations part L compliance calculations

*Able to work to CDM (2015) Regulations and be NEBOSH qualified.

*Awareness of broader sustainability issues (e.g. passive design, health & wellbeing, post occupancy evaluation, low impact materials, water, waste, environmental economics etc)


*Willingness to learn about risk management, financial management and commercial awareness


*Willingness to learn a variety of different modelling software packages such as IES, TAS, CFD, Revit, Grasshopper


*An interest in more strategic sustainability consulting and sustainability assessment methods e.g. BREEAM, LEED, WELL, Fitwel


*Advantageous: Experience using IES dynamic simulation software; An understanding of HVAC design: CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant Simulation Specialist qualification
