Job description: My client, a local authority based in Mid Bedfordshire is looking for a Building Surveyor to join their team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency contract and the successful candidate will have a full professional qualification, experience in a repairs/maintenance role and ideally experience with capital construction projects.

The main purpose of the role is to undertake building surveying duties ensuring that the client's public buildings, residential garages, commercial, community and park buildings etc. are compliant and fit for purpose.
The second part of the role will also include undertaking capital construction projects from inception to completion.

The main responsibilities associated with the role are as follows;

Interpreting and developing design briefs and project requirements from, Client officers, project sponsors, and external organisations.
Identifying and recommending the need to appoint specialist and consultants
Ensuring project delivery within a strict qualitative and commercial framework.
Preparing feasibility studies
Preparing budget estimates, costs and outline specifications during the design process.
Preparing detailed drawings, specifications, schedule of works for tendering/quotations. This shall also include the contract conditions, preliminaries, and schedule of works
Preparing all design and detailed construction drawings.
Investigate selection of appropriate materials and methods of construction.
Preparing Contract documentation and inviting quotations and tenders.
Project management
Project procurement. This will include selection of contractor's and management to the tendering / quotation process.
Quotation and tender evaluation
Making Building regulations and planning applications. This will also include the preparation of design access statements.
Identify building defects and provide recommendations for repair, preparing estimates as required.
Carry out building / stock condition and dilapidation surveys preparing reports on findings.
