Job description: My client, a local authority based in Hertfordshire is looking for a Building Surveyor to join their team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency contract and the successful candidate will have a full professional qualification, experience in a repairs/maintenance setting and a full UK driving licence.

The main purpose of the role is to undertake the implementation and delivery of professional building surveying services relating to repairs, maintenance and planned improvements to properties and land.

The main responsibilities associated with the role are as follows;

To undertake a variety of building surveys to report, analyse and rectify both simple and complex repairs and building defect issues.
You will take the lead role in managing a range of planned maintenance projects from the start to final delivery working on your own initiative with minimal supervision.
This will include preparing specifications, procurement of contracts, supervision of remedial and major programmed work
To proactively manage the contractors in the delivery of works in order to ensure performance against the specification of works is adhered to and resolve any operational contractual matters.
Directing contractors to ensure a programme of capital works is developed, managed and delivered to maintain the Housing stock.
To monitor the delivery of repairs, maintenance projects and investment projects within budget and set timescales.
This includes holding leaseholder and customer consultations, tracking planning / building control applications and attending contractor and tenant forum meetings.
You will provide a customer focused service, achieving key performance targets and value for money including compliance with financial regulations, standing orders and audit procedures.
You will communicate complex information effectively to a range of stakeholders and this will include monitoring project progress.
You will ensure that the stock condition data is up to date and sufficient to allow effective investment planning in line with all statutory, legislative and operational requirements.
To include verifying, collecting and recording stock condition data in respect of assets and updating records.
You will provide expert building surveying advice on a range of construction and project related matters and keep key stakeholders informed and updated on progress if appropriate.

The client is looking to fill this position quickly and the successful candidate must have a professional qualification along with a full UK licence, experience in a local authority setting would be beneficial.
