Job description: My client, a local authority based in Hertfordshire is looking for a Building Surveyor to join their team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate will have experience dealing with non-housing properties, a full professional qualification and ideally experience in a Local Authority setting.

The main purpose of the role is to undertake planned, preventative and reactive maintenance works to the client's non-housing properties, land, plant and machinery.

The main responsibilities will include;

In accordance with the client's aims and objectives, deliver capital projects on time and within budget.
Provide facilities management and security advice and support
Provide building management advice underpinned by relevant condition surveys, schedules of dilapidation/condition, building insurance valuations.
Provide a responsive and managed repair service for the client's land and property holdings (including play equipment, MUGAs, etc.)
Establish and develop an effective partnership with the client's building and facilities contractors to monitor delivery, improve service performance and where necessary take appropriate action to address instances of non-performance.
Manage and monitor the capital and revenue budgets related to the building & facilities service.
Provide a high level of customer service within a professional and commercially aware environment.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following essential knowledge and understanding;

DDA Act 1995
Health & Safety at Work Act
CDM Regulations
Building Regulations
Control of Asbestos Regulations
Procurement and contract management
Managing building contracts including JCT Minor Works, JCT IFC, and JCT MTC
Preparation of tenders and contract documentation in accordance with accepted professional practice and the client's standing orders, and European and UK Government guidelines
Traditional and non-traditional construction methods, building defect analysis and repair to both traditional and non-traditional buildings to a high level
