Job description: A local authority based in North East London is looking for a Permanent Building Surveyor to join their team. This is a fully permanent position and the successful candidate will have a full degree level qualification, be a member of RICS/CIOB and have experience ideally working on a mix of corporate and residential projects.

The main purpose of the role is to provide professional advice on a range of building projects including repairs, refurbishments and adaptations across multiple contracts and clients. The successful candidate will also be expected to project manage complex technical works in addition to providing an estimation and surveying function in respect of these works.

The main responsibilities associated with the role are as follows;

Prepare reports and deal with correspondence relating to the various types of building construction works delivered across the business.
Monitor, supervise and control the work of contractors and operatives including the allocation of work and provision of progress reports.
Produce specifications, tender documentation for a variety of maintenance, refurbishment and planned project schemes.
Attend site meetings as required to resolve design/technical issues.
Ensure accuracy of cost information in relation to projects and risk events.
Ensure effective recovery of all claims/costs incurred.
Review and authorise Sub-Contract payments within specified delegated authority.
Undertake and accurately record work-in-progress, post inspections, health and safety inspections and act accordingly on findings.
Oversee project teams and / or manage individual projects.
Keep abreast of developments in design and surveying practice, and changes to standards and legislation, to ensure that services provided conform to industry best practice and legislative requirements.
Adopt the principles of quality assurance systems to enhance service provision through a reduction in errors and reworking.
