Job description: A Local Authority based in Cambridgeshire is looking for a Building Surveyor to join their Estates repairs team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate must have a full relevant Surveying qualification, extensive experience dealing with all manner of repairs works and ideally a strong background in Local Authority projects.

The main purpose of the role is to undertake maintenance of building services to the Council's properties of all types. It is expected that the successful candidate will have a general knowledge of a range of building services but will be a specialist in one or more service areas. The candidate will however also be expected to work on other property maintenance activities delivered by Estates & Facilities as workloads demand.

The main responsibilities associated with the role are as follows;

General responsibility for the administration, supervision and inspection of new and existing building
services installation and upgrading work within City Council property, either as part of the Improvement Programme or as individual projects, in accordance with the current regulations.
Preparation of annual Services Improvement Programmes and formulating budget estimates and draft specifications for proposed works.
Responsibility for the preparation, organisation, administration, recording and operation of the Services Inspection Programmes within City Council property, in accordance with the current regulations.
Day to day liaison and co-ordination with other sections of the Department and with other departments of the Council regarding the provision and maintenance of building services referred to above, in order that reliable and efficient operations are maintained.2
Ensuring that appropriate certification and/or documentation is obtained for all works carried out and that accurate records are maintained as required by all statutory regulations, British Standards and codes of practice, Council Policies and Contract terms
Surveying all property services and installations, preparing and updating of records of existing and
new works.
Providing technical advice on all aspects of Electrical services requested by other
sections of the department and other departments of the Council together with supervisory and
commissioning roles on request.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies/attributes;

Minimum qualification Level 4 (min ONC)
Experience In Repairs & Maintenance of a variety of property types
Familiar with relevant H&S legislation and specifically application of CDM

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such, are offering a rate of £21 p/hr Umbrella ltd (Approx. £535 p/week NET) for the duration of the assignment.
