Business Development Manager

Job description: My Client, a local authority in Cambridgeshire, is currently looking for a Business Development Manager to work on an initial 6 month contract basis

You will join The ICT Service based in St Ives who provide IT support to schools throughout Cambridgeshire. You will be responsible for developing new business opportunities for the company, specifically targeting schools within counties surrounding Cambridgeshire.

It would be an advantage if you have knowledge of Schools and their operations, and due to the nature of the role, you will require an Enhanced Level DBS Check (although we can get this in place for you).

Principal Accountabilities:

1.Business Development:

* Identifying opportunities, areas of focus and devising strategies for driving sales growth.
* Generate new business opportunities with schools in Cambridgeshire and surrounding counties to revenue and profit targets.
* Managing new customer relationships and driving advocacy to secure new business.

2.Strategy, Leadership & Management:

* Forming new strategic relationships with 3rd parties with the goal of driving new business.
* Negotiating pricing within the profit margin parameters agreed.
* Feeding in and supporting the business planning process.
* Sharing market insight and intelligence with the rest of the organisation.

3.People Management:
* Work with the marketing team to plan new business campaigns and appropriate support materials.

Education, Qualifications & Training

* English & Maths GCSE or equivalent.

* Degree in Sales/Marketing/Business.

Knowledge & Experience

* A keen analytical sales business mind, able to rapidly learn about our own business and services, that of our competitors, and our customers'.
* Must be able to demonstrate a history of winning and managing new business.
* Experience working with senior management to align sales strategies and solutions.

* Experience of how schools work and the challenges they face.
* Experience working in or with the public sector particularly with schools in a sales position is desirable but not essential.

Skills & Attributes

* Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
* Must be able to demonstrate a customer orientated approach and attitude.
* Able to keep up to date with current Service offerings, and understand how they serve a customer's need.
* Fully IT literate with a good grounding in ICT focused service delivery.

* High competency working with modern computer systems including Office suites CRM tools.
