Job description: Children's Project Worker, Keswick, Cumbria

The purpose of the role is to complete return interviews for those children and young people who have been missing from home. These children may have gone missing or run away. It is vital Return Interviews are undertaken in a way that enables Children and Young People to have a voice and share the issues surrounding their running away/going missing.

The role pays £10 - £11 per hour on a full time basis for an initial 3 months.

Specific Responsibilities

* Work in close partnership with CCC Children's Services and the Police to identify missing children and young people who require a return interview.

* Following the statutory process, offering and completing the return interviews within 72 hours of the child or young person returning home.

* Work in close partnership with statutory partners and voluntary sector to ensure the sharing of information that prevents future missing episodes and reduces the risk of significant harm for that child/young person.

* When necessary, work outside normal working hours which may include weekends.

* Work and travel across Cumbria to meet with the child and young people in their home or residential setting.

* Work as part of a team, in partnership with other Barnardo's colleagues and external colleagues/professionals.

* Complete effective and policy compliant recording.

* Working within safeguarding procedures to balance risk and protective factors.
