Job description: A housing association based in Essex is looking for a Permanent Clerk of Works to join their team. This is a fully permanent role and the successful candidate will need to hold a relevant professional qualification, have experience with new residential and refurbishment works and ideally have experience working within a Housing Association setting.

The main purpose of the role is to support and contribute to the delivery of quality homes by providing a high quality and professional service; assessing the building work undertaken by Development and Property Services' contractors; identifying good and inappropriate practices, and compiling reports on contractor delivery methods.

Additional responsibilities associated with this role are as follows;

To visit Development new build schemes and Property Services planned and improvement works to review the quality of work being undertaken by the contractor
To advise the Director, Project Manager and Employer's Agent (where appointed) of any non-conforming activities, variance on material or equipment specification or other concerns with the quality of the product being delivered.
Produce Site reports for distribution to the Project Manager, Employer's Agent and Contractor.
Such reports to contain the date attended and weather conditions, the progress being made on site, any observations or defects noted and any other general comments including Health & Safety.
Ensure the contractor evidences the correct installation of fire safety systems and components, to evidence and record the works, including taking photographs.
Attend all monthly site meetings and give a verbal report at the meeting and attend any other extraordinary meetings in relation to the Project as requested.

The successful candidate will have worked previously on both new build and refurbishment schemes and will demonstrate a thorough understanding of the building process to ensure that our contractors deliver what they say they will, on time and on budget.
The successful candidate will possess a good knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, along with good communication and IT skills.
Will also need to demonstrate excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage and prioritise your own workload with a flexible approach.

The client is looking to appoint quickly to this position and as such are offering a very generous remuneration package which will include;

£40,000 (depending on skills and experience) per annum + car allowance of up to £1500 per annum
