Job description: A local authority based in Lancashire is looking for a Mechanical & Electrical Clerk of Works to join their team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate will need to hold a relevant professional qualification, have experience with M&E projects and ideally have experience working within a local authority setting.

The main purpose of the role is to support and contribute to the delivery of mechanical and electrical repairs and maintenance projects to the client's residential and non-residential portfolio.

Additional responsibilities associated with this role are as follows;

To visit additional schemes and planned and improvement works to review the quality of work being undertaken by the contractor
To advise the Director, Project Manager and Employer's Agent (where appointed) of any non-conforming activities, variance on material or equipment specification or other concerns with the quality of the product being delivered.
Produce Site reports for distribution to the Project Manager, Employer's Agent and Contractor.
Such reports to contain the date attended and weather conditions, the progress being made on site, any observations or defects noted and any other general comments including Health & Safety.
Ensure the contractor evidences the correct installation of restricted systems such as fire safety systems and components, to evidence and record the works, including taking photographs.
Attend all monthly site meetings and give a verbal report at the meeting and attend any other extraordinary meetings in relation to the Project as requested.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a thorough understanding of the building process to ensure that our contractors deliver what they say they will, on time and on budget.
The successful candidate will possess a good knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, along with good communication and IT skills.
Will also need to demonstrate excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage and prioritise your own workload with a flexible approach.
