Job description: A local authority based in North London is looking for a Clerk of Works to join their team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate must have extensive experience in a similar role, a relevant professional qualification and experience overseeing multi-disciplined teams carrying out a wide range of repairs/maintenance programmes.

The main purpose of the role is to progress and deliver cyclical and capital programmes of works, maintaining an exceptional level of service delivery and H&S at all times.

The main responsibilities associated with this role are as follows;

Provide a Clerk of Works service across the full range of work undertaken by the Council and occasionally deputise for the Group Leader - Site Quality.
Agree joint quality control procedures with the constructor/contractor in accordance with requirements and audit such procedures and records to ensure that quality control inspections are effective and efficient.
Maintain a critical but constructive relationship with the contractor's supervisory staff.
Examine specifications and drawings and ensure that any aspects which are not satisfactory are rectified.
Inspect finished work, prepare schedules of, and supervise, remedial works and provide certification of standards of work. Schedule snagging items and defects at practical completion and at the end of the defects liability period.
Prepare specifications and issue direct orders to the contractor for various minor works and defects, subject to approval of financial implications by the Project Manager.
Check invoices against prepared schedules under the general direction of the Project Manager.

The desirable qualifications/experience for the successful candidate is outlined below;

Institute of Clerk of Works Part II examination or Institute of Clerk of Works and Construction Inspection Professional Practice.
Demonstrable post qualification experience.
HNC/CIOB membership or equivalent.
Demonstrable post qualification experience/Substantial experience as a senior site agent or clerk of works or equivalent

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering up to £25 p/hour Umbrella Ltd (approx. £600 p/week after deductions) dependant on experience and qualifications.
