Job description: A local authority based in North London is looking for a Clerk of Works to join their team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate must have extensive experience in a similar role, full relevant professional qualifications (Degree, CSCS, Health & Safety etc.) and ideally experience in a local authority setting.

The main purpose of the role is to undertake Planned maintenance projects and major works, ensuring that all contractors act in a timely manner to address identified concerns and to escalate any issues that require formal instruction or rectification.

The main responsibilities associated with the role are as follows;

Input into specifications of works and feedback in particular, where they are impacting in site delivery.
To inspect contractors' works on construction projects to ensure that works are carried out in accordance with contract documents.
To resolve in conjunction with the Contract Administrator/Project Manager queries raised by the contractor whilst on site.
To provide written and oral reports on the progress of works to Contract Administrator and Project Manager on a regular basis.
Where appropriate to act as the Council's representative and liaise with Consultants, Contractors, officers, building users and members of the public.
Pre and Post Inspect specific works including carrying out surveys for presentation at project review meetings and to demonstrate works have been completed prior to payment approval.
Clerk of Works reports are relied upon to help PMs determine whether to accept works are acceptable for handover and end of defects period.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following Skills, knowledge & experience;

Relevant building related qualification or able to demonstrate competencies through relevant experience
Extensive experience of working as a Clerk of Works, ideally in a social housing environment
Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety Legislation including CDM, Fire Regulatory Order 2005, Health and Safety at Work Act, Asbestos Control of Asbestos etc.
Knowledge of the construction process from Design to Completion
Experience of work in a customer focused environment

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £22p/hour Umbrella Ltd (approx. £560p/week after deductions) dependant on experience and qualifications.
