Job description: Mental Health Experience? Clinical Coding Experience? Service Care Solutions are recruiting for Part Time Clinical Coding Co-ordinator in Derbyshire. This post holder will be on a initial 6 month contract covering a Mat leave with potential to be extended to 12 months working 3 Days a week.

*Please Note- Mental Health Experience is required for this role*

Take responsibility for an agreed clinical coding work programme, developing and implementing an appropriate, consistent and comprehensive model of delivery for clinical coding across the Trust.
Establish and deliver a regular training and audit programme to ensure that the Trust's clinical coding programme of work is completed timely, to a high standard of accuracy and adheres to national and local standards; and data collection issues which could impact on Trust income and / or reputation are resolved effectively.
Provide Clinical Coding specialist knowledge and expertise to inform a proactive approach to long term planning and change management for the Trust's Clinical Coding Function, supporting strategic development of the function and the proposed migration to SNOMED Clinical Terming in all Clinical Systems.

Professional Issues

 Develop, implement and maintain an agreed Trust wide model of delivery for clinical coding in partnership with the Trust medical directors and other key Trust staff so that all appropriate service areas within the Trust is covered: Inpatient, Outpatient, Community, Intermediate Care etc
 Provide and receive complex, sensitive and potentially contentious information and issues on clinical coding to clinicians and senior management removing barriers to understanding and acceptance of proposed service changes
 Provide complex specialist advice on clinical coding issues within mental health services, including advice on cases of dual diagnosis with secondary acute diagnoses impacting on the mental health episode of care
 Initiate and plan up to date Clinical Coding work programmes, making adjustments as national and local policies and structures change
 Analyse, investigate and resolve complex Clinical Coding queries and data using own specialist and technical knowledge and expertise to make interpretations, presentations and recommendations through verbal and written reports

Leadership and Management

 Co-ordinate and manage directly and indirectly the performance of Clinical Coding staff and provide appropriate professional support and guidance around coding quality (accuracy, completeness, timeliness and relevance of data) ensuring the ongoing professional development of all team members
 Become a credible Clinical coding lead for the Trust and manage and influence the clinicians' practice of clinical coding Trust wide
 Develop and co-ordinate an effective clinical coding service model for the Trust and operationally lead and support the implementation and management of the service
 Act as the Trust lead for clinical coding providing expert specialist advice on complex matters relating to clinical coding and casemix e.g to support reference costing and payment by results
 Lead the Trust in managing the transition to proposed nationally imposed changes to clinical coding classifications or systems as part of the National Program for IT eg SNOMED CT
 Take responsibility for validating and authorising any external returns or reports and deputise for the Records manager as and when necessary on clinical coding matters
