Salary: £40 LTD+ per hour DOE

A placement for a Commercial Legal Team Manager to work within the Commercial Projects and Property team of a local authority in Cheshire for a period of 2 months with a likely extension. The placement is full time and you will be working as a Legal Team Manager working closely with the Head of Legal Services to lead and coordinate Legal Services in the strategic management of the service to ensure that the political and management interface operates effectively. You will be dealing with complex and sensitive casework including advising on a range of policy and strategy, major projects and developments.

*Lead and manage the operational activities of the Legal Services Division
*Deal with complex and sensitive case work
*Support the commercialisation plans of the Council's Alternative Service Delivery Vehicles
*Lead the legal side of major transformations programmes
*Act on behalf of the Head of Legal Services in their absence
*Represent the Legal Services department and Council at Cabinet, Committees, Boards, Panels, officer groups and at regional, national and European levels
*Advise on the implications of new legislation and case law
*Advise on legal, ethical and governance issues
*Supervise, manage and motivate a team of lawyers
*Manage team budgets

*Experience of working for a local authority
*Admitted solicitor or barrister
*Experience of political awareness and successful management of issues relating to politics
*In depth knowledge of Commercial Law or Contract Law or Property Law
*Knowledge or willingness to work with Procurement Law
*Current knowledge of local government legislation and government guidance
*Understanding of data production, freedom of information and confidentiality requirements
*Able to appropriately motivate and influence people
*Ability to plan, meet deadlines, initiate and implement change an prioritise competing demands
*IT skills
*Willingness and ability to travel throughout the Borough
