Job description: A Local Authority based in West London is looking for a Commercial Waste Manager to join their team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate must have a full relevant qualification, experience dealing with specifically Commercial Waste and ideally a strong background in Local Authority projects.

The main purpose of the role is to develop, improve and expand the existing Borough-wide commercial waste service, in order to retain the existing customer base and attract new customers to generate additional trade waste income.
You will also be responsible for the effective financial management of service, maintaining its cost competitiveness against other providers, and keeping debt to the lowest practicable level.

The main responsibilities associated with the role are as follows;

To manage, coordinate, deliver and improve the Council's commercial waste collection and recycling services.
To lead and motivate a sales team to ensure that businesses regard the Council's commercial waste services as the natural first choice to meet their needs at a fair price and to maximise the size of the commercial waste portfolio.
To be in close day-to-day and strategic command of pricing, publicity, promotions, debt management and credit control. To ensure that invoicing debt avoidance and reduction, are conducted at a high level of effectiveness and in a manner consistent with corporate procedures and guidelines.
To deliver the service on budget, to be cost effective and to transform the service to be a leader in this area.
To manage, scrutinise and challenge regular performance reports, investigate cause of exceptions and take remedial action so as to maximise the commercial waste service portfolio and ensure a high quality of service delivery.
To develop a culture of behaviours within the commercial waste team of commitment to the improvement of the street-scene, and the prevention of dumping, litter caused by poor or untimely presentation of commercial waste.
To provide regular performance and financial reports to the Departmental Management Team (DMT), including recommendations on pricing structures.
To be responsible for the forecasting, planning and monitoring of income and expenditure, accounting for over and underspends and identifying discrepancies. To prepare detailed reports when required

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies/attributes;

A relevant commercial waste/management qualification
Experienced in working as a Waste Manager, ideally 3+ years commercially based
Experienced manager who understands commercial waste matters issues
Extensive Experience driving sales and improving income

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such, are offering £24 - £26 p/hr Umbrella ltd (approx. £590 - £630 NET p/week after deductions) for the duration of the role.
