Job description: A local authority in Cardiff is recruiting for a Community Development Officer to work as part of the Homeless Outreach and Multi-Disciplinary Team in delivering courses, setting up and ruining activities, facilitating projects from outside agencies, outreach work, building management, recording and sharing sensitive information on an initial 3 month contract.

The Role
The focus of this role is to work as part of the Councils Homeless Outreach and Multi-Disciplinary Team which caters for people with complex needs who are rough sleeping and/or using emergency accommodation. The focus of the centre is to get clients ready for independent living through meaningful activities, peer engagement, educations, training and work experience.
The focus of the role is assisting in the provision of this service, including delivering courses, setting up and ruining activities, facilitating projects from outside agencies, outreach work, building management, recording and sharing sensitive information. This will include the following tasks and responsibilities:
*To have responsibility for supporting a caseload of clients aged 18+
*To provide a flexible service, developing comprehensive assessments with young people in order to develop individual support plans with clients and undertake further assessment and regular reviews as appropriate.
*To offer tailored information support and guidance that allow people to make informed choices.
*To ensure that all relevant support is accessed and available to the client, including referrals pathways for other services. Where appropriate providing brokerage and advocacy functions.
*To support individuals to address broad barriers to attendance, behavior and wellbeing in turn reducing the risk of people becoming isolated and withdrawn from communities, promoting independent living.
*Establish and maintain effective engagement with a range of organisations and agencies that can assist in the progression of individuals.

The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you will require previous experience working with rough sleepers, or those at risk of homelessness and assisting with work towards independent living, including cross agency work. You will require an up to date DBS.

The Contract
This is a temporary role on an initial 3-month contract, which is likely to be extended.
