Job description: Community Safety Officer, Bedford

An exciting opportunity has arose working for a Bedfordshire based council as a Community Safety Officer, this will require the individual to work as part of the community safety team to deliver the councils priorities and to support the work of partnering Community Safety Partnership Team in tackling antisocial behaviour and support victims of crime. Additionally, to assist in any CSP response to Borough issues of crime, disorder, anti-social behaviour, substance misuse, or any of the identified priorities for the CSP where performance is monitored, measured and evaluated to inform future plans.

The Role
Your key duties within the role will include the following:
-Work with Service Manager, Community Safety & Resilience team and partner agencies on behalf of the authority to problem solve community safety issues, including antisocial behaviour, hate crime, substance misuse and vulnerable people
-Work in partnership with the police and other agencies to investigate and manage crime and antisocial behaviour reports, including ensuring victims are updated on progress and conclusions.
-Utilise the incremental approach of antisocial behaviour powers including warning letters, community protection notices, fixed penalty notices, and associated orders
-Contribute to any action plans by reporting in a timely manner to the CSP on relevant matters
-support the operational delivery of the three year Community Safety Plan
-Identify and deliver appropriate community events to address community issues, engaging with all communities, partner agencies and voluntary sectors
-provide professional support and advice, in line with appropriate competencies, to local stakeholders and other directorate service areas

The Candidate
To be considered for this role you must have experience and an understanding of the underlying concepts and principles of community safety functions delivered by local authorities in terms of crime reduction and community confidence. Working experience of the new crime disorder act amended 2014, and previous experience of working with housing associations.

The Contract
This is a contact starting ASAP up to 22th March 2019, working 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
