Job description: A local authority based in North East London is looking for a Permanent Construction Manager to join their team. This is a fully permanent role and the successful candidate will have experience delivering a number of large construction projects, managing various teams of operatives and will hold a full professionally relevant qualification.

The main purpose of the role is to be responsible for the successful delivery of all aspects of minor works/major works and construction project work streams across the business.

This will include all aspects of managing building construction work delivery across multiple contracts and clients. The successful candidate will also be expected to manage up to 3 direct reports and up to 50 indirect reports consisting of Technical Supervisors and trade operatives and engineers. The role will deliver building construction works to multiple clients at various sites and buildings up to a value of circa £5m.

The main duties of the role will include the following activities;

The post holder will take on full responsibility and accountability for the successful operational delivery of a range of work streams including responsive repairs, cyclical maintenance or major works and construction projects across multiple contracts.
Management of minor / major works operations across a range of building construction maintenance activity for various clients and contracts.
Manage the full supply chain management requirements to deliver successful services that achieve business objectives and meet our customer's needs.
Source and engage contractors to meet service demands known and contingent, including procurement activity, commissioning, appointment and management in line with the Company's contract rules and standard terms and conditions.
Improve the efficiency and output of the repairs and maintenance services including its reputation with customers and stakeholders for producing excellent services.
Attend site meetings as required to resolve operational and technical issues
Ensure accuracy of cost information in relation to projects and risk events.
Ensure effective recovery of all claims/costs incurred.
Review and authorise Sub-Contract payments within specified delegated authority.
Undertake and accurately record work-in-progress, post inspections, health and safety inspections and act accordingly on findings.
