Job description: A Local Authority based in Cambridgeshire is looking for a Contract Manager to join their Streets/Open Spaces team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency position and the successful candidate must have a full professional qualification (building/facilities management etc.), experience managing multi-site contracts and ideally experience in a local authority setting.

The main purpose of the role is to manage the successful delivery of contracts, including Building Cleaning and a Market development, in accordance with the invitation to tender, winning tender submission and associated contract terms and conditions.

The main responsibilities associated with this position are as follows;

To monitor the contractor/ consultant's performance and manage any issues of under-performance, working closely with the contractor and client departments, to ensure these are promptly addressed to the satisfaction of client departments
To review, produce and present management reports on the performance, cost and specification compliance of the contract to client departments.
To oversee the financial management of contracts and associated costs and payments to ensure transparency and delivery of value for money.
To provide professional and technical advice specific to building cleaning services to Council departments, committees and external agencies as approved by the Council.
To ensure the contracted work is compliant with professional standards and meets contract specification and client needs via the development and use of sound and accountable contract and project management systems.
To lead change and assist in the delivery of excellence in customer service and professional building cleaning delivery, instilling a culture of continuous improvement.
To actively engage, as necessary, with both client department leads, service users and the contractor on all strategic and operational matters pertaining to the contract, including performance audits and monitoring inspections
To act as arbitrator in cases of dispute regarding all aspects of the contract.
To support contractor/ consultants with stakeholder engagement planning and delivery and associated communications
To undertake negotiations as directed by, or in conjunction with, client departments relating to the contract, including variations and extensions.
