Job description: Our client is currently recruiting for Custodial Care Officers to become part of their team on a full time permanent basis at Rainsbrook Secure Training Centre. The role will see you providing a secure, safe and stable environment for Children and Young People that focuses on individualised child-centred care and physical and emotional well-being.

On a day-to-day basis, you will be safeguarding, supervising and mentoring the 12-18 year olds who have been remanded or sentenced to periods of detention. You will play a big part in providing inspiration and motivation for them to live up to their full potential and turn their lives around.

This a hugely diverse role and can be extremely rewarding - it can also be very challenging at times. Some of the children at Rainsbrook can be confrontational and unpredictable so it is important to remain calm, confident and resilient, with a supportive 'firm but fair' approach to a variety of different situations.
You must pride yourself on being a positive role model for the Children and Young People taking a proactive approach behaviour management and goal implementation to encourage change. Experience of working with young or vulnerable people is desirable but it is not essential.

The role is paying a competitive salary of £21,016.58 - increasing to £23,852.50 upon successfully completing your 6 month probationary period.

Rainsbrook STC operates 24 hours a day, therefore our staff member will work on a rotational shift pattern that includes weekends and some night shifts. You can expect your shift pattern to look something like this:

Days: 7.30am - 9.30pm (3 days a week)

Weekend work every other weekend.

Nights: 9.15pm - 7.45am (once every 16 weeks you would work 7 night shifts, then have 7 days off!)
