Job description: A Local Authority based in East London is looking for a Design & Technical Standards Manager to join their team. This is a full time, temporary agency role and the successful candidate must have a full degree level qualification in a relevant Construction/Building subject, proven experience developing technical & design specifications for a range of properties and ideally experience in a similar local authority setting.

The main purpose of the role is to take the lead role for ensuring the development and overseeing implementation of the provision of a comprehensive set of technical and design standards for improving the long-term maintenance, fire safety, energy efficiency, sustainability, and accessibility of the Council's housing stock.

The main additional responsibilities associated with this role are as follows;

Work with colleagues in Regeneration, Building Maintenance and other relevant services, members and customers to ensure that Council homes are built to high quality design standards that are easy to maintain, accessible, sustainable and safe.
Oversee and manage a range of strategic projects to ensure that the Council's homes meet quality standards for the benefit of our residents.
Be the lead technical officer responsible for leading the production of design standards for the maintenance, safety, quality, accessibility and improvement of the Council's housing stock
To play a key role in assisting in the development and implementation of the Council's Housing Asset Management Strategy, through leading the development and implementation of comprehensive technical and design standards for the Council's capital investment programme for the existing housing stock, ensuring that these standards contribute to resident safety particularly in respect of fire safety, and accessibility.
To implement the Housing Asset Management's Strategy's principle of promoting attractive buildings through optimising design quality in the development of design codes and technical standards and in doing so, providing homes that people are proud of.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies/attributes;

Experience of developing technical specifications for a range of housing property types
Experience of producing and implementing design codes
Experience of managing
Have extensive technical knowledge, experience and understanding of construction details in all types of domestic dwellings, including high-rise developments.
A sound knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and regulation.
Knowledge of relevant building regulations applicable to all types of
Ability to prepare technical housing maintenance briefs and specifications-prescriptive or performance, and technical drawings
Ability to lead and coach a small team of technical staff
Ability to create and maintain positive working partnerships
Ability to supervise staff and provide positive leadership and direction to individuals to gain commitment and ownership

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such is offering a rate of £250 p/day Umbrella Ltd. (Approx. £800 take home pay per week after all deductions).
