Job description: Education Welfare Officer

Service Care Solutions are recruiting for an Education Welfare Officer to offer quality provision to children, their families and Schools.

The role is working on behalf of St Helens Council and is initially on a 2 month basis which will be reviewed at the end of this 2 months. It is a full time position (37 hours per week) and is an immediate start.

The pay rate for this role is £12.37 per hour.

Main responsibilities for this role include:
-To help meet the aim of the service which is to enable pupils to attend school so they can benefit from their educational opportunities.
-To support families to resolve any problems with non-attendance.
-Having regular contact with pastoral staff in schools for the purpose of individual referrals, in relation to non-attendance in school.
-Work closely with schools in response to school attendance problems.
-Home visits to pupils homes to ascertain the reasons for non-attendance at school.
-Encourage regular school attendance.
-Maintaining records.
-Attend court in relation to the prosecution for school non-attendance.
-Remaining calm in confrontational situations.

Essential criteria:
-Enhanced DBS disclosure.
-Must be driver with own vehicle.
-NVQ in Health and Social Care or Children and Young People.
