Job description: Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for an Education Welfare Officer to start beginning of September with Cheshire West and Chester Council.

This will be term time only working 37 hours per week based in Ellesmere Port.

Duties would include:

*Lead, coordinate and/or participate in multi-agency team around the family assessments or specialist assessment for children who require the support of education welfare; liaise closely with the schools, wider IES team and other agencies. This may include working with the Assessment and Monitoring team in formal assessment procedures.

*Co-work on cases alongside practitioners to provide the drive, challenge and support needed to effect the cultural change required to ensure effective assessment, reduction of duplication and holistic intervention planning for children and young people.

*Have a working knowledge of relevant legislation to the function of Education Welfare and offer professional expertise related to education welfare business to support schools including carrying out annual Register inspections to develop and enhance attendance policies and effective practices aimed at improving school attendance.

*Be an advocate for children, young people and their families and undertake and manage a full range of Education Welfare duties. Assertively working in partnership with the individual pupils, parents ,school and other agencies to develop pro active solutions to attendance, absence or related welfare issues to prevent the need to implement foreseeable enforceable sanctions.

*Provide bespoke advice to schools on their management of child protection cases, complex level three cases and support schools to be compliant with LSCB guidance and Cheshire West and Chester child protection procedures.
