Job description: A Local Authority based in South Yorkshire is looking for a Licensing Enforcement Officer to join their team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate must have experience with a full range of licensing activities, extensive experience in enforcement/investigative activities and ideally experience in a local authority setting.

The main purpose of the role is to provide investigative, enforcement and other support / intervention services in relation to the full range of activities undertaken by the Licensing team.

The main responsibilities associated with this role are as follows;

Enforce a range of Licensing and other Consumer and Public Protection legislation having due regard to relevant codes of practice and guidance documents.
Conduct enforcement activities in accordance with appropriate inspection programmes, provide guidance and advice to businesses, respond to consumer queries / complaints and work with other organisations and agencies to address issues of concern within communities.
To provide technical and professional advice on matters related to local authority licensing (as directed by service management) including the provision of advice to members of the public, members of the licensing team and other departments / agencies internal or external to the council. The post holder will be required to act as a witness in Court as part of civil / criminal proceedings.
Liaise with Councillors, other bodies and organisations and attend public meetings, dealing with the technical aspects of Licensing.
Lead on specific projects and investigations, and compile reports as required.
Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures relating to the work of the licensing team.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills/attributes;

Level 3 Qualifications (A Levels or equivalent)
Experience of working in a local authority (or other agency) enforcement or regulation service
Awareness of the legislative frameworks, key issues and working practices relevant to the work of local authority licensing - including taxis and private hire, Licensing Act 2003, Gambling Act 2005 and other similar statutory licensing regimes.
Experience of providing advisory / regulatory advice in relation to enforcement issues within a customer-focused service delivery organisation
Experience of carrying out investigations and investigating complaints

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering between £12 - £16 p/hour Umbrella Ltd (approx. £340 - £430 p/week NET after deductions) dependant on experience and qualifications.
