Job description: My client, a local authority based in Merseyside is looking for an Environmental Health Manager to join their team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency contract and the successful candidate must have a qualification in Environmental Health, be a member of the CIEH, have a form of Management qualification and ideally extensive experience in local authority/public sector roles.

The main purpose of the role is to manage, operate and ensure continual improvement of Wirral's Environmental Health Service, as well as the statutory Food Safety, Health and Safety and Pollution
Control Services, this also includes Pest Control, Public Convenience and the Stray Dog Kennelling services.

The main responsibilities of the role will include the following;

Responsible for the success of joint work with other services to ensure delivery of a range of beneficial outcomes for local people.
Lead and manage the Environmental Health Management Team.
Advise the Council on matters of policy, trends and the development and improvement of the Environmental Health services.
Develop and direct the budgets, revenue and capital for the services above.
Develop and direct the performance of the Environmental Health Services and ensure compliance with the health and safety legislation in all related service areas.
As required develop and direct the planning and implementation of new developments involving both capital, external funding and revenue monies.
Develop and direct the marketing and promotion of the services.
Direct the production of newsletters, web information and communication for the services.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies/attributes;

Degree in Environmental Health, member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental
Health (CIEH) and recognised qualification in management and leadership such as
an MBA or ILM level 3 or above.
Significant experience in the delivery Environmental Health related services at a senior level in a large multi-disciplinary organisation.
Experience of managing staff and budgets that have some complexity and risk.
Highly developed knowledge and professional experience of specialist area.
Commercial acumen and financial understanding.

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such, are offering £28 - £30 p/hr Umbrella Ltd (approx. £690 - £720 NET p/week after deductions) for the duration of the role.
