Job description: My client, a local authority based in Greater Manchester is looking for an Environmental Health Officer to join their team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency contract and the successful candidate will have a full qualification along with evidence of EHRB registration.

The main purpose of the role is to undertake inspections of all categories of food premises, assess food hygiene ratings where needed and investigate food and health & safety service requests and complaints. Additional responsibilities may include infectious diseases, RIDDOR notifications and referrals from other Local Authorities.

Other duties/responsibilities associated with the role are as follows;

To contribute in the preparation of, and to participate in, the implementation of work programmes and strategies.
To give professional advice, aimed at increasing public awareness of Environmental Health issues.
To undertake specific duties allocated and/or detailed in work programmes.
To instigate informal and formal enforcement action, as necessary, including the preparation of cases for legal proceedings and attendance in Court as required in accordance with national policy guidance.
To prepare and present reports and to represent the Service as required at area fora, committees, meetings, seminars and joint liaison bodies.
To participate in the promotion of Environmental Health initiatives.
To provide professional and technical advice to other staff.
To assist in the training and development programmes of other Environmental Health staff and students.

The successful candidate must hold a few professional qualification, be registered with the EHRB, must be able to meet the competency requirements for an authorised officer in line with the requirements in the Food Law Code of Practice/Practice Guidance and have maintained their CPD. A full UK driving licence and access to a work vehicle will also be required.
