Job description: A Local Authority based in North Manchester is looking for an Environmental Health Officer to join their team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate must have a full relevant EHO qualification, relevant experience and training within an EHO function, experience with COVID control and ideally experience in a local authority setting.

The main purpose of the role is to primarily be focussing on COVID-19 control in workplaces, business and the community and will involve both reactive and proactive interventions by working with partner agencies, businesses and the wider Public Protection Team

The main responsibilities associated with this role are as follows;

Undertake reactive and proactive visits and inspections and take any necessary remedial action to ensure compliance with legislative standards;
Follow up on contact, track and trace referrals in relation to preventing the spread of COVID-19
Investigate complaints and undertake service requests (as allocated); and
Prepare reports on infringements of legislation (whether for prosecution or alternative method of disposal) and where necessary to appear as a witness on behalf of the council at courts of law, public inquiries, tribunals and at other outside meetings as required.
To maintain effective liaison with other enforcement agencies and health protection partners to foster partnership working.
To undertake sampling activity, surveys, surveillance, research activities and project work as and when required..

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills/attributes;

Diploma / MSc / BSc in Environmental Health, plus practical qualification to give EHORB status or other relevant training qualifications and experience giving an equivalent level of skill, knowledge and expertise
Demonstrate your ability to interpret and apply legislation across the range of duties across Environmental Health .
Demonstrate your ability to communicate complex information effectively both in writing and verbally to a range of audiences

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering between £20 p/hour Umbrella Ltd (approx. £530 p/week NET after deductions) dependant on experience and qualifications.
