Job description: A local authority based in Cambridgeshire is looking for an Environmental Health/COVID Project Officer to join their team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate must have a full Environmental Health qualification, experience with Infection Control/Outbreaks, H&S auditing experience and ideally have a strong background in local authority assignments.

The main purpose of the role is to provide advice and information to businesses in the area to undergo safe opening practices promoting a vibrant economy. This would be achieved through a combination of the following:
Provision of support, advice and information to businesses in City Centre relating to relevant legislation and guidance.
Undertaking monitoring and site visits / inspections as necessary.
Assisting with the Council's prevention based communications and targeted campaigning.
Assisting with the provision and ongoing management of temporary signs, barriers and other equipment needed to support the safe operation of the area

The main experience needed to undertake the role are as follows;

Experience of carrying out local authority intervention work including dealing with outbreaks and infection control
Experience of carrying out H&S audits
Technical knowledge and experience of carrying out investigation work.
Effective communication skills are essential for this role including the ability to negotiate in a broad range of often complex and difficult scenarios whilst organising/prioritising work to meet deadlines.
Details of all visits and action taken will need to be accurately recorded in accordance with service policy and procedures by manual or electronic means for which the post holder will need to be comfortable with the use of ICT in general.
The post holder must be able to work flexibly within the City, using their initiative / working jointly with both internal and external stakeholders as necessary.
The post holder must have the flexibility to work in the evenings and weekends.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies/attributes;

Degree Level Environmental Health qualification
Extensive experience with infection control and outbreaks
Experience of H&S Audits

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such, are offering a rate of between £25 p/hr and £30 p/hr Umbrella Ltd dependant on experience, skills and qualifications (Approx. £620 - £730 p/week NET after deductions) for the duration of the assignment.
