Job description: Environmental Health Officer required ASAP based in North Devon.

This role is on an ongoing contract.

Our client wishes to appoint an EHRB Registered Environmental Health Practitioner (EHP) to work approximately 37.5 hours per week between Monday and Friday, initially for a period of 4 months, with possible extension.

The post will be based in Barnstaple, North Devon.

The EHP will primarily investigate and undertake associated enforcement actions for a range of environmental protection related duties - including statutory nuisance, air quality, drainage, anti-social behaviour, flytipping, littering, abandoned and nuisance vehicles. They must be able to demonstrate significant experience and competence in these areas of work as they will be required "to hit the ground running" and work with a high degree of autonomy.

There may also be a need to assist in more specialist areas of work from time to time (environmental permitting, contaminated land), and provide cover for Officers' who undertake The Council's dog related duties - including investigations associated with dog fouling, collection and re-homing stray dogs.

The successful applicant will need to have strong IT and communication skills, be able to work flexibly (and out of hours as required), portray a positive professional image at all times, hold a full clean driving licence, and have their own vehicle to use for business. Significant experience of using Northgate M3 would be highly desirable.
