Job description: A Housing Association based in County Durham is looking for an Environmental Manager to join their team. This is a fully permanent position and the successful candidate will need a passion for the Environment and Environmental issues, a full qualification in a relevant Environmental Science area and experience developing and managing Environmental strategy.

The main purpose of the role is to have overall responsibility for developing and managing an organisational Environmental Strategy with the aim to reduce energy consumption, carbon emissions and to reduce and recycle waste, in all managed properties and any of our business activities and those of our supply chain. The successful candidate will drive forward the organisation to be at the forefront of the environmental sustainability agenda.

The main responsibilities associated with this position are as follows;

You will be the lead person in the organisation for developing, managing and embedding an environment friendly culture with a clear mandate to reduce energy consumption, reduce carbon emissions and to reduce and recycle waste, in all our managed properties and through our business activities and that of our supply chain.
You will have specialist knowledge in the field of environmental science along with an excellent understanding of the built environment.
You will be the organisations ambassador for environmental sustainability and will be required to undertake research on the subject, including attending conferences, seminars and workshops.
You will work at a national level by creating professional networks, which will see you develop and influence legislation and best practice.
You will be responsible for providing coaching, guidance and training to employees, board members and external stakeholders to raise awareness and better understanding of how we can protect the environment.
You will develop effective internal and external working relationships to understand the needs of others and offer advice and solutions to improve ways of working, maximise use of resources and embed learning into the service area.
You will be required to develop and manage an environmental strategy for the organisation that will align with the Corporate Plan.

Has excellent writing skills, including writing board reports, briefing notes and technical papers.

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this role and as such are offering a salary of £49,351 per annum, in addition to an excellent and competitive benefits package.
