Job description: My client, a local authority based in London, is looking for an Estate Development Management Officer to joint their team. It is a full time ongoing contract and the successful candidate will have an in depth knowledge of town planning legislation, procedure and practice and preferably be a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.

The main purpose of the role is to provide a comprehensive development control service benefiting the residents and businesses and to lead one of two development control teams.

Duties related to the position include but are not limited to:
* Manage and motivate a development control team, co-ordinate works programmes and allocate work tasks in order to process.
* Being responsible for the achievement and maintenance of high professional and technical standards within a development control and including up to date knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, technology and techniques.
* Ensuring that the team provides professional advice on development control issues and that an effective service is provided.
* Ensuring that the team maintains contact with the local community, carries out consultation on planning applications and provides effective liaison with other Boroughs and bodies dealing with development control.
* Ensuring that quality control, systems are in place to ensure that correspondence and other forms of communication leaving the team is acceptable
* Other duties that are related to the position.
