Job description: A Local Authority based in Hertfordshire is looking for an Estate Surveyor to join their team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate must have a full relevant Estate Surveying qualification, ideally be a member of a chartered institution, have experience with Estate Management and valuations and ideally have experience within a similar local authority role.

The main purpose of the job is to manage the client's commercial property portfolio efficiently and effectively, within the bounds of good estate management.
The Estates Surveyor will play a key role in supporting the Senior Estates Surveyor as the custodian of the client's portfolio of shops, offices, industrial, land, operational and community buildings and ensuring a growing and sustainable rental income and community benefit.

The main responsibilities of the role are as follows;

To manage and grow income from the Council's commercial property portfolio.
To assist with the timely flow of capital receipts from targeted asset disposals.
Assist with challenging estates projects and corporate initiatives involving the Estates team, other departments and outside consultants and contractors.
Negotiating licences, grant of easement and wayleave agreements
Monitoring expenditure within the Estates Service budgets, particularly those relating to the commercial property portfolio.
Liaising with external agents / consultants who carry out a range of work on the Council's behalf, including rent reviews and lease renewals, rating appeals, lettings to telecommunications companies, and disposals - ensuring that they meet targets, and agreeing terms.
To play a key role in the management and maintenance of the Council's property data management system and ensure that records are stored properly and up to date.

The client is looking for the successful candidate to demonstrate the following;

Ability to negotiate commercial deals including rent reviews and lease renewals
Good working knowledge of Landlord and Tenant law, and valuation methodology
Able to manage own workload and demonstrate good time management skills.
Full Driving licence and access to vehicle
Proven experience in valuations and Estate Management.

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such are being fairly flexible with the remuneration for this post. The client is looking to offer £25 p/hr Umbrella Ltd - £35 p/hr Umbrella Ltd for the role, but are open to negotiation to an extent for qualified candidates.
