Job description: A large housing association in the East Midlands is recruiting for an Extra Care Scheme Manager to join their service in Blaby on an initial one-month contract, to carry out all aspects of housing management within the service.

The Service
The service this role is based in, is an extra care housing service for the over 55s. The service consists of 50, one and two bedroom flats, with on-site care staff (24 hours / 7 days), Non-resident management staff and Careline alarm service.

The Role
This Extra Care Scheme Manager role will involve working closely residents of the extra care service, and managing all aspects of the housing service that they receive.
This will include the following tasks and responsibilities:
*Overseeing tenancy management and sign ups
*Supporting residents with Housing Benefits claims
*Managing the rents and voids process within the service
*Manage a compliant and financially viable housing service
*Manage a compliant and financially viable care service
*Ensure tenants feel engaged and part of the community
*Manage a culture of performance management that improves quality and supports the development of our people to improve retention and to support succession planning.

The Candidate
It is essential that any applicant for this Extra Care Scheme Manager role, has significant experience of managing accommodation services for older people and people with Learning disabilities. You will also require:
*Knowledge and experience of Intensive Housing Management criteria, specifically around allocations, tenancy sustainment, promoting independence and safeguarding
*Knowledge of the welfare benefits system and supporting people to successfully apply for relevant benefits to maximise income, and support tenancy sustainment
*Experience in an operational management capacity in a health & social care setting
*Experience of working within an Extra Care setting
*Ability to understand Financial information and spreadsheets
*Experience of joint working to achieve positive outcomes for vulnerable people
*IT skills (e.g. word processing, email, excel)
As this Extra Care Scheme Manager role is working with vulnerable service users, you will also require an enhanced DBS check, ideally on the update service.

The Contract
This Extra Care Scheme Manager vacancy is on an initial one-month contract, which has a strong chance of being extended on a monthly basis. The role is full time, working 10-3 Monday to Friday, though some flexibility will be required.
