Job description: Working with Barnsley Metroplitan Borough Council, I am looking for an Family Support Worker to undertake a 3 month post. Candidates will help build and maintain working relationships with a wide range of schools, colleges, providers, statutory and voluntary agencies, employers and colleagues within Health and the local authorities.

This position is for 3 months for £14 per hour.

The successful candidate will facilitate tailored interventions to meet the specific needs of individuals and ensure that families are supported in meeting their needs via effective delivery of early help.

- Ensure that children and young people with special educational needs are identified at the earliest opportunity and receive appropriate support to meet their needs

- undertake case work responsibility for a number of children and young people aged 0-25 years referred to the local authority for statutory assessment of special educational needs.

- undertake specialist transition planning and progression support for a cohort of students with special educational needs.

- liaise closely with the child , young person or young adult to ensure they understand the assessment process.

- work with parents and carers and young people to identify the most appropriate person to support the family.

- NVQ level 4
- Previous Experience within this field
- experience working with children, young people and families
