Job description: Service Care Solutions are recruiting for a Finance Officer to work a temporary contract within the council in Staffordshire.

Pay £19.85Ltd an hour

Responsible for the day to day management, guidance support and training staff
Within the Benefits and Fairer Charging Assessments Team. Co-ordination of service delivery ensuring that citizens receive appropriate support to enable them to pay for care charges

*To lead manage and supervise a team of Benefits and Fairer Charging Officer staff in the efficient operation of the full range of duties undertaken within their respective team. The post holder will undertake My Performance Conversations and personal supervision of their staff.

*Keep up to date with relevant and appropriate benefit legislation and ensure that other staff are suitably trained in that legislation and the use of any software systems employed to discharge this work.

*Make decisions and determinations, including in respect of the exercise of discretion's, allowed in individual cases within the context of Fairer Charging and related legislation and Council Policies.

*Manage the Welfare Benefit / Financial Assessments Team on a day-to-day basis to ensure the smooth running of the team, particularly with regards to good communication with other departments within the council and external bodies, and ensure work is carried out accurately and in a timely manner.

*Ensure that Fairer Charging assessments and reviews are carried out by the team, in line with the Council's Charging Policies by visit and through desk based work, in accordance with defined legislation, procedures and timescales so the Council can correctly charge for non-residential and residential services provided.

*Deal with and Assist other staff in the section when dealing with complex cases affecting financial assessments.

*Ensure new staff are trained to the relevant standards, assist in training other council staff and any staff of Joint Working Partnerships to the correct standards.

*Manage the performance, workloads, staff issues and development of the Welfare Benefits / Financial Assessments Team. Lead on the monitoring of delivery of the service in accordance with set standards, producing statistical and other reports on the overall quality of the service provision as required

*To assist the Financial Services Manager in the development of standards and objectives, the setting of targets for the team, monitoring and reviewing the achievement of these objectives and taking corrective action, where necessary. To produce performance management reports as required.

*NVQ level 4 or equivalent (Such as HNC)
*Proven wide local government experience
