Job description: Finance Officer (Service Charge)
Location of the job: Manchester M21
Pay rate per hour: £11.03/Hour
Contract type: 12 weeks plus ongoing
Weekly hours: 37 hours
Working hours and breaks: Monday-Friday 9-5
Start date: ASAP
Reporting to the Rent and Service Charge Manager, the Service Charge Finance Officer's overall purpose is to provide and further develop a comprehensive and professional service charge function to the Group and its stakeholders. To assist in the efficient running of the finance department by providing support to the Rent and Service Charge Manager in the performance of their duties and in the provision of an excellent service to the management team of the Group and its subsidiaries.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
*To produce prompt accurate meaningful and well explained monthly service charge accounts to facilitate budgetary control and facilitate meetings with budget holders and contract managers
*To extract cost information to support budget holders in setting budgets and then producing the budget statement.
*Processing Invoices and timely payment to suppliers (Private Managed Schemes)
*Reconciliation and review of the Service Charge accounts, with variances identified and corrective action taken, with issues escalated as appropriate.
*Reconciliation of control accounts and bank statements. Production of annual financial statements (Private Managed Schemes)
*To prepare & process monthly accruals and prepayments
*Manage & post transactions on both the Accounting and Housing systems for managed schemes
*To assist & support the Senior Finance Team in the preparation of the Group subsidiary management accounts
*To manage group contracts at scheme level, reviewing on a regular basis and identifying and resolving queries for annual service charge accounts and budgets

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

*Thorough knowledge & understanding of double entry book keeping and ledger maintenance
*Experience of working in a busy Finance team
*Working within the social housing sector
*Experience of producing service charge or income and expenditure accounts
*Book keeping experience to control reconciliation or above
*Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and computerised financial packages
