Job description: Financial Inclusion Officer - Nuneaton
A local authority in Warwickshire are recruiting for a Financial Inclusion Officer to be based in Nuneaton and be responsible for the provision of support, guidance and advice to improve money management and digital skills to residents within the Borough to ensure effective recovery of all monies owed to the Council.

The Role
The main activities of the role will include:
-Co-ordinate and deliver money management skills to residents of the borough identified as at risk of financial exclusion including those residents claiming Universal Credit.
-Co-ordinate and deliver advice and support to residents of the borough to manage their Universal Credit claim online including accessing and using on-line services
-Work in partnership with other organisations and teams to develop effective working relationships.
-To have an awareness of issues and vulnerabilities of residents and make referrals as needed e.g. child protection, drug and alcohol misuse, domestic violence etc.
-To participate fully and facilitate all aspects of financial inclusion initiatives.
-To keep robust records of all support and advice provided to customers as well as actions taken. For Universal Credit claimants the information should be recorded in accordance with the Management Information requirements of the DWP.
-Evaluate, using appropriate data, the effectiveness of any money management and/or digital skills delivered to residents.
-Evaluate the success of financial inclusion projects and make recommendations for improvement and scalability if required.
-Provide timely updates as required regarding the support, guidance and advice given to residents including outcomes.
-Process and monitor arrangements for all Council debts, including attachments to benefits, attachments to earnings and any other appropriate recovery action.
-To take the necessary action to trace residents with monies outstanding that have left with no forwarding address and update accounts as appropriate. Where necessary arrange for any write off action to be processed.

The Candidate
To be a success in this position, you must have recent experience of working in a local taxation / debt collection environment and have excellent communication skills. You will need to have experience of dealing with customers in a one to one situation including giving advice on money management solutions and any knowledge of Local Taxation and/or a Debtors Computer system will be highly beneficial.

The Contract
This is a full time role on an 11-month fixed term contract, working 37 hours per week, between 9:00 and 17:00.
