Job description: My client, a Housing Association based in Kent is looking for a Permanent Part-Time Fire Risk Assessor to join their team. This position is part time, 21 hours per week and is employed on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will need a full professional qualification and will ideally be a member of the Institute of Fire Engineers.

The main purpose of the role is to undertake fire risk assessments within domestic dwellings, commercial properties and places of assembly, to provide advice on fire safety.

The main responsibilities associated with the role are as follows;

Ensure that the Group has a legally compliant fire risk assessment programme.
Ensure that the Property Maintenance & Investment team has a fire safety programme of works and policies and ensure collaborative work is developed with Fire Authorities and that all programmes are set up with ongoing monitoring systems.
Work with other parts of the organisation to advice on fire safety issues so that good practice is mainstreamed in all activities of the Group.
Collate fire incident reports and undertake necessary investigation where appropriate.
Undertake intrusive and non-intrusive fire risk assessments across the groups stock as dictated by the senior fire control officer (Fire Survey types 1-4).
Recommend raising an order for intrusive (Survey Types 1-4) fire risk assessments to FFT and support the delivery of the recommendations for large, complex buildings including sheltered/supported/care homes
Give guidance to the housing management/property investment team/estates services regarding any issues that fall within the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and how it impacts the organisation
Quality audit 5% of the annual FRAs to ensure compliancy
Work with fire contractors to ensure that all fire panel alarm systems within blocks are fully functional, if not flag this to the fire control team for imminent action to be taken
Attend quarterly team meetings in order to discuss common complications
Upon attending sites to complete FRAs ensure discussions with onsite staff are had regarding evacuation strategy, report back on competency within FRA so further training can be organised
Liaise with contractors that carry out any fire safety works to ensure work instructed will alleviate fire risk

The client is looking to appoint to this position as soon as possible and the successful candidate will have a full UK driving licence as travel will be required.
