Job description: A nationwide charity is recruiting for three Floating Support Coordinators to provide high quality housing related support to a wide range of people with complex needs and high risk offenders who are experiencing difficulties in securing and sustaining their homes and living independently in the community

The Role
The focus of these roles is to carry a caseload of 12-15 and provide high quality housing related support to a wide range of people with complex needs and high risk offenders who are experiencing difficulties in securing and sustaining their homes and living independently in the community. The role will also support individuals living in accommodation that is below regulatory standards to secure suitable alternative accommodation and will work with the private rented sector / Local Authorities to improve property standards where required.
This will involve the following tasks and responsibilities:
*Engage with actual and potential referral agencies including local authority central access points/ gateway services, statutory and voluntary sector agencies in order to generate referrals for the service as required.
*Carry out an initial assessment of the potential or actual service user including any risk, of his/hers needs and requirements in respect of the service, to determine eligibility for the service.
*Design and deliver an effective support plan with the service users referring to specialist agencies as applicable. This should be based on an initial assessment of the service user's needs and abilities.
*Maintain contact on a regular basis with service users in accordance with the requirements of the service and no less than the requirements of the minimum contact procedure.
*Inform the Local Authority of all property visited in the private rented sector that does not meet regulatory standards.
*Advocate on behalf of the service users where required to have poor property standards improved by the landlord.
*Challenge insecure/ inappropriate tenure arrangements.
*Actively engage with service users in decision that affect then, informing them of their procedural and representational rights, ensuring that they have input in shaping the nature of services delivered to them through involvement activities ranging from providing information, requesting feedback, consulting to facilitating involvement by the service users.
*Empower and motivate services users to identify and maintain focus on achievement of the desired outcomes from the service being delivered.
*Support service users to engage in meaningful constructive activities to make effective use of their time and develop their confidence and skills.
*Deliver practical life skill sessions, programmes with service users as required.
*Develop as service exit plan with the service users at the earliest opportunity, identifying realistic options for independence or appropriate housing where required.

The Candidate
To be considered for this role, it is essential that you have a driving license and you will require significant experience of working in supported housing preferably with offenders & high risk clients and in floating support, as well as the following:
*Experiences of working with people with multiple and complex needs & high risk offenders
*Experiences of working with statutory agencies
*The ability to identify support needs and implement support plans to address individual needs.
*The ability to work with and support challenging individuals
*Working knowledge of the Criminal Justice System
*Working knowledge of relevant housing legislation
*Working knowledge of welfare benefits
*Knowledge of safeguarding practices
*Knowledge of the issues affecting offenders and people at risk of offending
*Knowledge of conducting assessment and implementing support plans

The Contract
These are full time roles, working 35 hours per week, which will include some Saturday work.
The initial contract is for 3 months, though, as this is a new service there is the possibility of this role being extended beyond this initial period or even becoming permanent at the end of the contract.

Additional Vacancy
The client is also seeking a Support Team Manager to oversee the floating support service. Again this is a three month contract with a strong chance of becoming permanent.
