Job description: A local authority on the South Coast are recruiting for an experienced Floating Support Worker on a temporary contract to cover a patch in The New Forest area and support a caseload of vulnerable clients, who are primarily ex-rough sleepers with complex health and welfare needs, who require practical support to sustain temporary accommodation to prevent repeat homelessness.

The Role
The focus of this role is to support ex-homeless tenants and help them to sustain their temporary tenancies and avoid repeat homelessness. This will include the following tasks and responsibilities:
*Amend and review their support needs assessment based upon the needs and goals of the client.
*To ensure that all clients work towards an agreed support plan, which is regularly reviewed, to help them meet their individual needs and goals
*To support clients to access benefit, welfare and health services as required
*Support clients to sustain shared accommodation with other residents
*To work in partnership with Homelessness and Housing Advice Officers and other Support Workers
*To accept referrals from the Service Manager - Housing Options and Homelessness and Housing Advice Officers
*To accurately record and update support plans, meeting notes, service user records, reports and other relevant documentation and systems as required
*Support clients toward move on to private rented or social housing accommodation
*Work with clients in Private rented accommodation, Temporary accommodation or move on accommodation
*To ensure service users are fully aware of their rights and responsibilities
*To advocate on behalf of clients where appropriate
*Responsible for promoting and facilitating client participation across the service and other relevant services required by the client
*To ensure service users have links to community and voluntary group supports
*To promote good working relations and communications with stakeholders including colleagues
*To work with the client's Homelessness and Housing Advice Officer in the planning, organising and reviewing of the client's support
*To liaise and establish good working relationships with all relevant external agencies to provide the best possible service for our clients

The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you will require a minimum of 2 proven years' experience of working with people with a complex history of mental health issues, substance misuse and debt issues and an understanding of the problems facing vulnerable people, particularly ex-rough sleepers with complex needs, in relation to sustaining and securing accommodation and homelessness issues
*Demonstrable knowledge of the welfare benefit system and what benefits are applicable to our clients
*Proven experience of working with a range of agencies and organisations to develop effective working relationships and positive outcomes for clients
*Knowledge of the services available, as well as local demographics, in the New Forest district
*Ability to communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, with clients, colleagues and partners at all organisational levels
*Working knowledge of Word and Excel, internet and email including experience of client management and keeping up to date records using a database
As this is a floating role working with vulnerable clients, it is essential that you have an Enhanced DBS and driving license with access to your own vehicle for work.

The Contract
This is a full time position working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, on a temporary contract until April 2021.
