Job description: A Local Authority based in Cambridgeshire is looking for a Flood Management Engineer to join their Sustainable Urban development's team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate must have a full Engineering qualification and ideally membership of the ICE, experience with Drainage/Flood Management/S106 and ideally experience in a similar local authority role.

The main purpose of the role is to provide an effective, high quality and comprehensive Sustainable Urban Drainage Service, to maintain and manage watercourses, implement and promote SUDs across the City and to fulfil the client's surface water flood management duties.

The main responsibilities associated with the position are as follows;

To lead in the implementation of SUDS for developments in the City having regard to their integrated development, management, maintenance, monitoring and funding.
To co-ordinate and oversee the management and maintenance of those watercourses for which the City Council is directly responsible or has agency responsibility on behalf of other authorities.
To lead and coordinate activity across the organisation, and with key partners, to fulfil the Council's surface water flood management duties.
To be responsible for leading the development of expertise within the City Council on the principles and practical application of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) technology particularly in the light of climate change factors.
To be responsible for leading strategic flood risk activities on behalf of the City Council as well as working closely with other authorities and agencies.
To work with other City Council departments to help ensure that action on SUDS is appropriately integrated throughout all corporate and departmental policies and activities.
To prepare, attend, and present reports and recommendations to Committee, providing quality advice and information to Members to facilitate the best possible decision making.
Attend and make presentations to meetings, consultative forums with the public and various bodies to promote the Councils interests and the effective delivery of the service.
To develop and deliver SUDS training and information to Council staff, managers and Members, so that they understand how these issues relate to their own decisions and actions.
Provide specialist advice on SUDS with regard to the Local Development Framework, planning briefs, planning applications, s106 matters, biodiversity, and green open spaces
