Job description: Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Senior Social Worker, preferably with Forensic experience. This will be based at a low/medium secure unit in thatcham. As a Senior Social Worker, you are the reason why lives change for the better. You help some of the most vulnerable people gain a brighter future.

Working within the social worker department, you will be responsible for working in partnership with service users and carers to assess and identify women's needs and enhances their quality of life, independence, and social integration.

As an experienced Senior Social Worker, you will manage a clinical caseload of up to 24 forensic service users with mental health needs, assuring a high-quality social care service to service users and carers whilst promoting a balance between the needs and rights of service users and the protection of the public.

You will be an integral part of the senior management team within the service, providing clear and sensitive professional leadership to the social care team. You will undertake a comprehensive assessment of the service user's social care needs and the impact of social issues of service users' mental health and recovery.

Role - Senior Forensic Social Worker

Location - Thatcham, Berkshire

Salary - £35,500 pro rota

Hours - 37.5, Full-Time

Your responsibilities:
* Undertaking assessments regarding current social circumstances and the impact of social issues on service users' mental health and recovery
* Supporting service users in developing feasible plans for the future and working towards discharge
* Completing reports for CPAs, Mental Health Tribunals and Managers Hearings
* Taking a lead role within the multi-disciplinary teams on non-medical mental capacity issues and best interest decisions
* Liaising with a host of external agencies to enable them to fulfill their statutory duties, for example MAPPA, Local Authority Social Services, Police and Probation
* Supporting carers and families of detained service users
* Providing supervision to junior colleagues
* Delivering occasional safeguarding training

To be successful in this role, you'll need:
* Social work qualification
* Registered with Social Work England.
* Have a good working knowledge of the relevant legislation
* Have at least 2 years' experience of working in mental health
* Be able to build effective working relationships with patients, their family members, and carers
* Work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team
* Understand and champion the social perspective on mental health

Where you will be working:

You will be working at a 130 bedded independent hospital that supports service users that require medium and low secure Forensic Mental Health Services. In addition to these services, there is also a PICU Mental Health Service.

The service provides a seamless internal care pathway supporting and empowering people in their recovery and rehabilitation.

Working alongside the multidisciplinary team, you will provide personalised assessment and treatment programmes for males with mental illness/complex care needs as well as those with a personality disorder and females and males in a PICU service.
